BlackBerry and the New 2007 Daylight Savings Time

November 2nd, 2007

blackberry_daylight_2007.jpgI find a lot of great information from others and forward it on to my clients. One is by, Martin Trautschold an expert in Blackberry training @ Blackberry Made Simple. Here is his great tip about the new daylight savings time.

You may be aware that in North America, Daylight Savings Time is changing this year to start earlier and end later. The device clocks in your BlackBerry will NOT update automatically when the DST date changes unless you (or your BlackBerry Administrator, if you are a corporate user) update software on your BlackBerry. This DST change may also impact your computer, you may want to check with your computer operating system supplier to see if there are any “patches” required for 2007 DST changes.

If your BlackBerry is not updated, your calendar events between the following dates will show up one hour off on your BlackBerry device:

  • Between the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in April (for example, 11 March 2007 to 1 April 2007)

  • Between the last Sunday in October and the first Sunday in November (for example, 28 October 2007 to 4 November 2007)

If you are a corporate BlackBerry user, please wait for announcements from your BlackBerry Administrator or IT staff - they will need to solve this issue centrally.

If you are an individual user of BlackBerry, then please proceed

to: http://www.blackberry.com/select/dst2007/ to learn more about this issue and update your BlackBerry. These DST patches were just released today, February 12, 2007.
